How long will it take?

To complete this qualification, learners are expected to undertake approximately 45 hours of learning. The SIA stipulates a minimum of 44 contact hours (6 days) if self-study is undertaken.

Qualification Overview

This qualification has been developed to meet the requirements of the Security Industry Authority (SIA). It provides the learner with the necessary skills and knowledge to apply for an SIA licence and work as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry.


Entry Requirements

Learners must be 18+, hold a current and valid Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) certificate dated within 3 months of course start date, and complete the ACT E-learning module and self-study workbooks before starting the course.


Qualification Structure
  • Unit 1: Working in the Private Security Industry
  • Unit 2: Working as a Door Supervisor
  • Unit 3: Conflict Management
  • Unit 4: Physical Intervention Skills

Assessment
  • Unit 1: 72-question multiple-choice exam – 70% pass
  • Unit 2: 50-question multiple-choice exam – 70% pass
  • Unit 3: 20-question multiple-choice exam – 70% pass
  • Unit 4: Practical scenario test – 15 minutes (100% pass required)

ID Requirements

Learners must provide original valid photo ID and proof of address before being allowed into exams. Acceptable forms: passport, driving license, BRP, etc.
